Cultivation is the fundamental knowledge a farmer must possess in order to grow and produce a fruitful harvest. The soil must be broken up and made ready for planting, and once planted, the crop must be nurtured and cared for. Cultivation is the essence of planting and harvest. Throughout Scripture there are many illustrations that draw upon this agricultural model in order to paint a vivid picture of personal spiritual growth, and in agrarian cultures like the one Jesus inhabited it is particularly understood. Often conference themes have encouraged vision, goal-setting, and corporate challenges to reach farther and higher. This is all good, but it cannot occur without the cultivation of healthy leaders. This is why Network Leadership felt that Network Conference 2014 needed to center upon the personal needs and growth of the individual minister, and thus the selection of the theme CULTIVATE.
