Philanthropy and the Challenges of a Changing Canada
Our theme explores philanthropy’s response to the complicated and multi-faceted social and environmental issues facing Canada in the 21st century.
Some of these ‘grand challenges':
Climate change and the environment
Population shifts, aging and immigration
The quality of city life
Healthy development of children and youth
The future and partnerships with Aboriginal communities
Inspired by scale and urgency, Canadian funders today are searching for ways to make a bigger difference sooner on these important issues.
A Unique Gathering
Co-chaired by well-known Atlantic philanthropists David and Donald Sobey, the 2014 PFC national conference in Halifax will provide an outstanding opportunity for funder learning and exchange.
The PFC 2014 conference will offer affinity group meetings, site visits, rapid fire presentations, deep dive dialogues and strategic conversations all designed to complement inspiring plenary sessions in new and exciting ways.
Over 200 participants are expected, representing private and public foundations, charitable grantmakers and corporate giving programs from all across Canada.
Join us for two full days of exploration, learning and debate. Leading practitioners and thinkers in the philanthropic field to provoke us to think more deeply about the impact of Canadian philanthropy in the 21st century.
