A multi-jurisdictional presentation to discuss different statutory approaches to combating the crime of graffiti. The City of Phoenix Prosecutor's office will be on hand to discuss the charging under the state statute versus the city ordinance and the effect of Arizona's Neighborhood Victim's Rights statute on graffiti cases. In addition to the City of Phoenix there will be other jurisdictions there to discuss their statutory approaches to combating the crime of graffiti as well.
CPTED is an effective way to reduce crime and disorder while improving quality of life. This presentation integrates the basic concepts of CPTED and demonstrates how these can be utilized to eliminate graffiti, public disorder and re-establish feelings of safety in the community. CPTED is particularly useful in combating graffiti and can be used in conjunction with removal strategies in order to keep cities clean and improve livability.
