This presentation will describe the 4 year process that took a crazy idea to a fully functioning service, and will highlight some of the developments planned for the next 2 years.

The creators of whym - translation for travel started a technology company in 2009 providing a platform for telephone interpreting (www.interpretersportal.com: http://www.interpretersportal.com).

In 2013 they identified the worldwide travel and tourism industry as being an interesting niche market. After 3 iterations of a solution to deliver a live interpreter to travellers in need, whym is now a fully developed and tested service with customers throughout the World.

The ideas and technology behind whym could be used for many other vertical markets, and the presentation will explore some of these.
