We multiple Agile Teams working collectively to advance the organization’s Vision comes the opportunity to enhance integration among the teams, as well as with the various business units. One way to do this is to align the cadence of ceremonies the teams perform, in particular the Sprint Showcase (Demo). A Sprint Demo is about demonstrating the hard work the entire team completes within the two-week sprint. Team members gather around their collaborative work space for informal demos and describe the work they’ve done for that iteration. They are usually 30 minutes in length and the opportunity for anyone to ask questions and provide feedback. The result of the demo is a revised Product Backlog or changes for the next sprint. These demos are an important part of Agile and we want to make sure we have representation from the business. That said, we scheduled the demos to occur on one day instead of spreading them out over three, as we have been doing in the past. Hence, Demo Day. We kick off the first Demo with Digital Services at 11 a.m. ET, followed by the next four teams. (Kind of like a Science Fair at a school allowing the attendees to “walk the Agile Spaces.”) We have also stream lined our SoS (Scrum of Scrum) ceremonies to occur 30 mins after our team stand up to improve efficiency and remove any obstacles/blockers.
