Why Attend All Things Open 2014?

Why Should You Attend All Things Open? Here’s some info to explain the value. Feel free to pass along.

If you’re considering attending All Things Open 2014, and perhaps need to convince a colleague or boss, please read on. Or better yet, forward the pdf version of this document to them directly. We have worked, and will continue work, extremely hard to produce a world-class technology conference focused on education and networking at a fair cost that creates tremendous value.

1. The focus is on education

The focus of the 2014 event will again be on education. We’ll host 45 minute sessions as well as 1.5 hour workshops on 10 tracks. While not completely comprehensive in its coverage, ATO will cover most of the major technologies and issues important in the industry today. Everyone attending, and we do mean everyone, will leave having learned a lot that can be put to use immediately – guaranteed. If you’re not convinced, take a look at the schedule from 2013. The biggest complaint we heard was “There are TOO many great talks going on at the same time. I can’t decide which one to attend!”

2. World-class experts and thought-leaders featured

All Things Open has become very well known in a very short period of time for featuring true thought leaders – the people that write the books, start the companies, and create the technologies we all use and reference. It’s rare for this many top-level experts to be in one place at one time, and above-and-beyond that, accessible in a small venue for conversations and dialogue. Every year we’re approached by many people that comment/remark on the strength of the lineup, and we’re working very hard to ensure these comments continue. We take great pride in it.

3. Great networking opportunity

Although education and learning are the focus, the value of networking cannot be overstated. It’s not enough to just listen to world-class experts, or meet a potential partner, or happen by a vendor booth and find a needed service or product, but time to really get to know each of them is of tremendous importance as well. At ATO, we not only feature world-class speakers and content, but our socials are world-class as well. We always host a welcome social on Tuesday evening as a way to welcome attendees and start things off right, a DrinkUp on Wednesday evening as well as a speaker/sponsor dinner that follows, and end the conference with a send-off bash on Thursday evening. We also encourage meetings and communication in between. We want you to leave having heard great stuff and having made many new friends, and we do everything we can to make that happen.

4. A fair price – tremendous value

Many people are genuinely confused when they see the cost of the conference and compare it to the value provided. Some have even lobbied us hard to increase the cost to enhance the event’s credibility. Take a piece of advice from us – don’t be confused, and don’t lobby. We didn’t forget to include a zero, or a one on the price – as we often hear. We simply, and genuinely are focused on providing great value to attendees and with making world-class content accessible to the average person…not just the person making six figures, or the person sponsored by his/her company. We know the technologists and thought leaders of tomorrow may not be in a position to pay $2,500 today to attend, and that’s ok with us. We want technologists at all stages of their respective careers to join us, and for companies (large and small) to send teams of people, not just the lucky one or two. While ATO might not be the fanciest conference you’ve ever attended, we guarantee you’ll never get more value out of another one. We can live with that.
