ASB Un-Plugged Impact 2013 connects biology and cognitive science with educational practice. Impact 2013 is a forum for educators to learn about neuroscience’s growing knowledge of how the brain develops and functions, and the implications for pedagogy and the classroom. Some of the questions that will be addressed: What are the neurological foundations of learning and of individual differences in learning? What does neuroscience reveal about the brain’s ability to learn and use written and spoken language, mathematics, and to think creatively? How can educational neuroscience improve the teaching of these abilities? What are the strategies that promote the development of the executive functions in the prefrontal cortex? Can we make a brain smarter?
We are bringing together four leaders in the field to help us understand the important new work in brain and learning science. At this stimulating conference, not only will participants learn about new research and practice that informs the work of schools, but they will also have opportunities to network and build connections between researchers and practitioners.
