As far as start ups go, Berlin has had a triumphant year in 2014. The New York Times wrote; “Berlin tech startups raised a combined $1.1 billion this year, a 140 percent increase compared with 2013”. Now we can see the highly anticipated results at Berlin Tech Open Air 2015. The event is hosting well over 130 speakers two of which are from companies that had the largest IPOs in Europe for 2014; Zalando and Rocket Internet.
That being said, this event is not only about sitting and listening to seminars all day. Berlin is the perfect setting to fill in the gap between the tech, music, art and science scene. This year’s TAO is also taking place at 140+ different satellite events spread throughout the city’s most unique social and startup spots.
The majority of sessions is taking place in an abandoned carpet factory called “Alte Teppichfabrik”. The place boasts a total indoor and outdoor area of 3000m² that allows for an experience that involves inspirational storytelling, interactive panels, knowshops, pillowtalks, art installations and live music. This years main topic will cover hardware, so expect to see a lot of wearable tech, robots, drones and more 3D printers than you would know where to put them.
