The Forum will welcome over 200 business leaders and senior government officials from Canada and Southeast Asia to discuss issues of trade and commerce along with the impending integration of the ASEAN Economic Community.
he Canada-ASEAN Business Council (CABC) was established in 2012 to provide a forum for Canadian businesses to establish trade and investment links in the ASEAN region, to organize trade missions for members and to serve as an advisory board for senior Canadian policy-makers.
Canadian Minister for International Trade, Ed Fast, launched the CABC in 2012 at the first ASEAN-Canada Economic Ministers Meeting in Cambodia.
It was identified as part of the 2012-2015 ASEAN-Canada workplan to implement the Joint Declaration on Trade and Investment. In its first year of operations, the CABC has produced a number of key initiatives to enhance outcomes for Canadian businesses in the region.
These include the commissioning of an Opportunities Study for Canadian SMEs and a Business Challenges Survey to better understand the obstacles of doing business in ASEAN.
