The country also has the potential to develop the rural and medical tourism. In order to unleash the vast tourism potential of the country, there is an urgent need for conducive policy framework, image makeover and higher investment in infrastructure, including through public-private partnership (PPP). CII Northern Region is organising Conference on Seamless Tourism at 0900 hrs on Friday, 6 December 2013 at Hotel Shivalik View, Sector – 17, Chandigarh. The conference aim to dwell upon the opportunities and challenges for the Indian Tourism Industry and evolve a definite way forward for the same. Mr Parvez Dewan, Secretary – Tourism, Government of India has already confirmed to be the Chief Guest for the programme. The conference is being held in conjunction with CII Tourism Fest 2013 – An International Fest on Tourism & Hospitality (www.ciitourismfest.com). Governments of Punjab, Gujarat, West Bengal, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Delhi, Andhra Pradesh, Goa, Pondicherry, Haryana and UT of Chandigarh have confirmed their participation at CII Tourism Fest 2013. Besides this, there are trade delegations confirmed from Thailand, Indonesia, China, Malaysia, Macau and Philippines.
