This comprehensive course will explain & provide insights into; CSG Associated Water, regulatory considerations, gathering systems, existing & emerging technologies in AW treatment, brine & salt management & currently available beneficial reuse options. Key Learning Outcomes Understand an overview of the CSG water industry Appreciate regulatory considerations _ State and federal requirements Discover field development (gathering systems) methods Understand Associated Water quality factors Identify Associated Water treatment/pre-treatment technologies Understand membrane and desalination processes Gain a working knowledge of brine management, environmental and economic considerations Determine beneficial reuse options and key driversAbout the CourseThis course will provide a clear understanding of the fundamentals of the Associated Water (AW) management of the CSG Industry. It will describe key industry elements, the extensive requirements of the AW infrastructure and the challenges that the industry faces to achieve the best outcome for the community and the environment. At the introductory level, an industry overview both for Australia and the world will be discussed. This will include the field establishment with relevant hydrogeological considerations, strategic planning to address regulatory and social environmental requirements. It will also include lessons learned from the establishment of similar industries.Detailed consideration will be given to the AW quality and quantity and its impact on storage infrastructure configuration, treatment options, and water quality targets. The course will cover potential pre-treatment technologies of the AW that could be applied prior to more complex processes such as membrane filtration, ion exchange and desalination.Brine management options including current and promising technologies will be reviewed and assessed.
