The rate of change in data persistence technologies has increased exponentially in the last few years. The reasons for the recent explosion may not be clear. Whether it is due to frustrations with constraints of relational modelling or due to the search for databases built to cope with the volumes of data we are now producing, it is a fascinating time to be building software.
