Get ready for fun in all flavors of science fiction and fantasy geekdom, coming to Detroit July 17-20, 2014. Come meet authors, artists, scientists, makers, musicians, costumers, gamers, other creative folk and fellow fans. Explore the Art Show and Dealers Room, check out the program, spot a new indie film at the Film Festival, hit the parties and dance scene, watch the Masquerade costume contest and awards ceremonies, or just hang out with friends in the Renaissance Center Marriott‘s huge atrium and lobby. Watch out for flying robots!
Our discounted parking rate ($12 weeknights, $6 weekends) is now good for both the Beaubien and Port Atwater garages (previously only Beaubien).
Regretfully, Sarah Zettel has had to pull out at the last minute and will not be attending as an MC.
The full program schedule is live! With nearly 400 unique panels, workshops, demos, talks and readings over 4 days, you will have no problem staying busy at Detcon1!
Progress Report 3 is online!
We have two scheduled outings for which you need to buy tickets in advance: A WSU Planetarium show at 3:00 pm on Friday (bus leaves at 2:15), and The Tigers Game Saturday at 1 — just 4 or 5 stations away by People Mover light rail. Get Tickets and information here.
We have a new Masquerade Guide (pdf) including a new Motown 3000 theme category showcasing design ideas for what Detroit will look like in the year 3000.
Our room block at the Marriott is sold out. We have arranged for two overflow hotels. Booking for the overflow hotels is now open. Please see the hotel reservations page for details.
Day memberships are now available! Check out the registration page for details. Current rates are valid through June 30, 2014.
