Dive Deep & Dream Big
5 - 9 March 2020
More and more people are waking up to the realities of climate change and species extinction and are demanding ambitious and genuinely inclusive responses to these global challenges. We see huge potential for transformation at the town/city scale where citizens, politicians and officials are ready to take bold action, are experimenting with new forms of democracy such as citizen’s assemblies, and are rejecting the idea of ‘business as usual’.
We’re seeking a rich mix of activists, practitioners, politicians and others who have the skills and capacity to explore this issue, focusing on the town/city scale. Together we will develop and participate in an experimental process, map and share our experience, knowledge, practice and perspectives, build trust, listen deeply to what’s needed and stretch our understanding of what’s possible. We are not attached to specific outcomes, but are connected to funders keen to hear of interventions capable of supporting meaningful steps towards life within planetary boundaries at the municipal scale.
This extraordinary, collaborative inquiry will run initially to July 2020 - who knows where we will go from there.
From 5 to 9 March 2020, approximately 80 of us will meet in Brussels for an intensive event - an opportunity to dive deep and dream big in person!
Throughout the process, we will seek to make resources and information freely available to anyone who is interested, including people currently grappling with these issues in their own town or city.
We have agreed to use English as the main working language for our inquiry, including at the event in March.
