You will form partnerships with employees by investing in future success, rather than being mired in past shortcomings. If the steps of the program are followed, there should never be any surprises as transparency will be the norm and a genuine two-way relationship will be in place.
The objective is to begin looking at employees and future employees as part of the single entity that is the business. You are certainly hiring to fill a position that has very specific requirements, but the mistake comes from not exploring what else your employee or candidate can do for the system.
