The cost of the World Cup is estimated at $14 billion and the economic stimulus at $11.1 billion - not much at all if we take into consideration Brazil’s $2.2 trillion economy. Dissatisfied with this situation, people from all over the country organized many public protests this month, asking for more spending on schools, hospitals and other nonsporting infrastructure - which are the real needs of the country.
