Welcome to RISING Architecture Week!
 - the most participatory festival in the Nordics

#RISING2016 are two inspiring days in Aarhus and Copenhagen in Denmark.

#RISING2016 will be the LAUNCH of #RISING2017 - MATERIALS, SOCIETY AND CITY

RISING CONFERENCE 2016
RISING Conference takes place one day in Copenhagen and one day in Aarhus.
We will discuss the three main headlines for #RISING2017:

THE CITY
Addressing challenges within mobility, building structures and
logistics.
In a world with an explosive urbanisation and endless
technological possibilities the city will have to adjust to fluid
work hours and –places; to driverless cars as well as both
physical and virtual personal presents. What are the implications
of these changes on the way we structure our city, work and
move from A to B? What are the real challenges and where
should we look for possible solutions?

SOCIETY
Addressing global, national and social challenges through
architecture.
In a time with growing transnational challenges like global
warming, growing flows of refugees and escalating inequality, we
need sustainable global solutions supporting the whole ecosystem
from nudging human behaviour towards a healthier
lifestyle, to circular economic thinking and innovative ecosystem-
business-models, all encompassing the new digital
possibilities and working across silos.

MATERIALS
Addressing changes, questions and possibilities within
materials and manufacturing methods.
Immense technological advances are causing a structural move
in the building industry. From a structure where everything from
positioning of building sites to the building materials were
geologically dependent. Towards a man-made reality, where we
are able to 3D-print both foundations and building materials and
see the rise of more and more intelligent materials – the internet
of things.
In the wake of the technology enthusiasm, we see a thriving
focus on both cultural heritage and traditional craftsmanship
and materials. Another important aspect of the Materials track.

MORE THAN 40 EVENTS THROUGHOUT THE HOST CITIES IN 2015
In 2015 you were to explore the cities in different ways by attending the 40+ events and activities hosted by practitioners and organisations. Your voice and you gain knowledge on current trends in city planning, as well as barriers to urban transformation were heard.
The events and activities throughout the cities included drone flying, walking-, bicycling-, running-, boat- and me-mover trips, talks, debates, workshops and films, wine tasting, 3D design
printing, pop-up restaurants, and much more.
During RISING Architecture Week 2015 there were, among others, "Why We Love Trees" tour on me-movers, a launch of a new way-finding app during a running trip, Temporary Urban Spaces and Architecture in a Circular Economy discussions, on-site visits at different construction sites and newly finished buildings and areas, and pop-up restaurant and book release.

RISING COMMUNITY

Share your thoughts on urban planning!

The future of our cities is of concern to all of us. The best foundation for creating beautiful and liveable cities for the future, is if we all join the debate.

Please participate. Post questions, link to inspirational videos, provoke the mainstream way of thinking.

 - Did any questions arise last time you went for a walk, drive or run through a certain area?
 - What makes your favourite spot in the city your favourite?
 - What is the biggest logistical issue you encounter when going to work?
 - How can an area attract your attention?
