John A. De Goes has been functional programming for more than seven years at multiple companies, and has assembled world-renowned Scala and PureScript engineering teams, trained new developers in Scala and PureScript, and developed several successful open source FP projects. Known for his ability to take very complex concepts and explain them simply, John has taught numerous workshops and classes, including several highly-regarded workshops on Scala and PureScript. John moonlights as an instructor for LambdaConf, but his primary job is Chief Technology Officer of SlamData, an open source software company using pure functional programming to redefine analytics for modern data.

I am a freelance software developer with over 10 years of experience. I received a Masters in Mathematics from Tennessee Technological University in 2005 where my research was on the semantics the of programming languages. I have worked on everything from engineering analysis software written in C and hardware design in VHDL to web applications in SQL, PHP, and JavaScript, in addition to designing and implementing compilers and interpreters for several domain specific/little languages.

Aimee Knight is a former figure skater, a graduate of the Nashville Software School, and a software engineer for Built Technologies. Outside of work, she’s a weekly panelist on the JavaScript Jabber podcast, and she regularly participates in a variety of others. In her spare time, she enjoys speaking at conferences, playing with new technology, running, working out, or trying the latest flavor of Kombucha. Jeremy is a web developer with a master's degree in computer science. He has many years of experience in front-end development and full-stack development, working with JavaScript and Ruby. He has presented numerous times on web development at conferences such as Fluent Conf and RailsConf. He is passionate about front-end development and its future, especially in functional JavaScript and Elm. He is currently authoring a book on Elm with The Pragmatic Programmers.
