MPLS 2013: Analysing the SDN Impact
The 2013 agenda: SDN and OpenFlow impact on MPLS
The 2013 agenda privileges operator and enterprise scenarios and testimonies.
Particular attention will be paid to SDN and OpenFlow issues: what aspects of MPLS are impacted by SDN interfaces. Other sessions will cover End-to-End, Mobile backhaul, Protection and Core networks technical issues.
The contributions have been analyzed and categorized according to their degree of pertinence by the members of the scientific committee.
Upperside Conferences would again like to thank the members of the committee for their commitment and support.
Tutorials: Carrier Ethernet 2.0, MPLS LTE Mobile Backhaul and Data Center Interconnection
The Seventh Edition of the Carrier Ethernet Workshop will discuss technological and implementation detailed issues of the new 2.0 specifications. Main sessions include:
- Updated certification programmes
- Service innovation
- CE 2.0 for SDN and Cloud
The sessions will be addressed by MEF ambassadors.
In parallel the traditional MPLS Tutorial will address two main topics:
- MPLS in Mobile Backhaul Evolution: 4G and beyond
- Enhancing IP/MPLS based Carrier Services to address Data Center Interconnection (DCI)
The sessions will be addressed by Broadband Forum ambassadors.
Confirming the Congress as the First Worldwide Event in the MPLS/Ethernet Area
The 15th Edition of the MPLS & Ethernet World Congress will take place in Paris in March, 2013. The objective set by Upperside is to continue the progress established during the 2012 edition.
MPLS & Ethernet World attracted more than 1200 participants last February. With service providers making up more than 50% of the audience and a growing international presence (more than 70 countries represented in 2012) MPLS World is the first worldwide event in the MPLS/Ethernet area.
MPLS World and the Carrier Ethernet Workshop will once again allow us to benefit from the enlightenment of the precise stakes involved in the convergence of the MPLS & Ethernet protocols, particularly their respective roles in access networks.
More than 50% of Service Providers, Robust Internationalization
The demographics of congress delegates show vigorous internationalization and a very solid presence of service providers. At the 2012 event, representatives from the EU made up 48 %, followed by attendees from North America at 18% and 11% from Russia.
With carriers from more than 70 countries participating at the event, MPLS & Ethernet World Congress can claim to be the first international event in this realm.
SDN Interoperability Test Platform
During the MPLS & Ethernet World Congress, the EANTC, in collaboration with Upperside Conferences, will organize the first ever public European multi-vendor SDN interop event, and the first one worldwide focusing on service provider wide area requirements.
The tests will focus on latest industry challenges:
Software Defined Networking (SDN)
Resilient Multicast VPN Services
IPv6 Migration Scenarios
Carrier Ethernet 2.0
The tests were performed and verified in detail at a closed doors hot staging at EANTC lab in Berlin.
The successful results of the tests were documented in a white paper released by EANTC during the congress.
