Learning how to navigate issues of racism, sexism, classism and other "isms" is essential to our work, families and communities. Jodi Pfarr and Xavier Bell (see bios below) have used their shared experience and gifts as teachers to develop a new training. “Navigating the Isms that Separate Us” will provide insight to us on how to talk about race, how to identify the strengths of people from different classes and how to recognize other "man-made social constructs" that keep us apart as a society. As social service agencies and providers, these constructs hinder our ability to achieve our missions. While it is a dynamic that is true and real for all of us, it is not often discussed. This workshop will provide a safe place for you to name and navigate the "elephants in the room" and give you language and tools to apply to your daily interactions with individuals and systems.
