OpenMRS Camp is a 3-day leadership retreat for the OpenMRS Community. Its purpose is to focus on building strategies for growing the community and ensuring its success. The event is structured in BarCamp style, where participants lead sessions (most of which will be proposed in advance) to share knowledge and ideas with others. Goals of the event include:

Strengthening relationships between OpenMRS leaders

Planning strategic goals of OpenMRS

Improving thought & design leadership, as well as operational leadership of the project

Mentoring and helping new leaders understand and plan their contributions

Strengthening strategic partnerships between OpenMRS and other organizations/projects

Who can attend OpenMRS Camp?

As a leadership retreat, OpenMRS Camp is designed for volunteers who serve the OpenMRS Community in various leadership roles, and those working on strategic planning with the OpenMRS Community. Anyone in these roles can apply to attend via the waitlist. Although space is limited, attendees will be encouraged to document the event to share activities publicly with the rest of the OpenMRS Community.

How much does it cost to attend?

Costs for food (Thursday AM through Saturday AM) and lodging (Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday nights) will be paid by OpenMRS, Inc. Travel assistance may be available to those requiring it; please enquire for details. Donations to offset the cost of the event are welcome.

The event will be held at the Manor House, a 102-year old home listed on the US National Registry of Historical Places.

What are the housing accomodations for the event?

Attendees will stay at the Manor House, in a shared room-mate housing situation. See the venue information page for details & photographs.

When should I plan to arrive?

Please plan to arrive on Wednesday evening, 19 November, or in the worst case, early morning on Thursday 20 November. Sessions will begin at 9:00 AM on Thursday 20 November.
