Machine data is often used at the foundation design stage without proper awareness of its concepts. Better communication between foundation designer and machine manufacturer can serve to improve the foundation performance and thus machine performance; which can go some way to rectify this problem. Therefore it is imperative that those involved in the foundation design process completely understand all the relevant constraints.
This course will focus on the improvements needed in the design process; with the sole objective of enabling practicing engineers to understand the dynamics of machine foundation system. The course covers basic fundamentals necessary for understanding and evaluating the dynamic responses of a machine foundation system. The main focus of the course will be to cover the following systems: Rotary Machines, Reciprocating Machines and Vibration Isolation System.
The course is aimed primarily at practicing engineers as well as for engineers at the junior level.
Design of industrial machine foundations is a composite discipline, involving elements of structural engineering (statics and dynamics), foundation, geotechnical and mechanical engineering.
The objective of this course is to improve participants' understanding of machine foundation design. This will result in the improved performance of machines with different types of equipment.
