Why attend?
Do you want the chance to experience the way an entrepreneur thinks, decides and acts when faced with a real life challenge?
Looking for some practical experience of thinking creatively to identify real opportunities with the potential to develop new products and services with real economic and social impact?
Have an idea but wanting to know that you are on the right track with it?
Join us for this “ Ideas Lab” and you will be well on the way to being an energetic and resourceful entrepreneurial thinker. Spurred into action to come up with ideas for your own venture or armed with the experience and skills to demonstrate your potential for innovation to a future employer.
What is it?
Ideas Lab is an interactive workshop with a strong focus on action, learning by doing and fun. In groups you will be set a real life design challenge and tasked with finding new and innovative ways of meeting that challenge.
Your group will be guided through the key stages of design thinking, which include observation, insight development, ideation and experimentation.
What you will gain?By practising design thinking in this safe, fun but challenging workshop, you will gain a real understanding of what it means to be innovative. You will also have the skills and confidence to apply this process to your own skills and experiences to enable you to spot opportunities for a business venture of your own or to boost your career prospects with future employers.
All students taking part in this Ideas Lab will receive a certificate to say that they took part in the SIE Innovation Programme 2012/2013
miiCard Challenge: 4-5pm
Straight after the Ideas Lab you will hear from a Glasgow-based technology start-up miiCard and how it is creating new business opportunities. Also you will be able to learn more about their ONLINE IDENTITY TRUST CHALLENGE which offers Scotland’s university students to use miiCard’s passport-equivalent Internet identity platform to develop solutions that address trust issues on the web and the chance to win £1,000!
