The prompt for creating this event is an extension of an event that had been held in Kingston or Ottawa for the last seven years: Podcasters Without Borders. While PAB started as a conference about podcasting, the several years I attended (before the event was discontinued in 2012) it evolved into some great discussions about storytelling in the digital age, including: podcasting, vlogging, blogging, photography, music, spoken word and often hearing the stories themselves along the way. PAB was attended by people from the Maritimes to Victoria and usually a solid group of participants who would come up from south of the border. And as with most such conferences, the real learning happens when the sessions end for the day.
The hope is not only that this event might become something worth doing annually, but that it might serve as a model where others could invite people into their home cities to learn about them in the same way I hope we can show off Hamilton in a positive light.
We're hoping all sessions will be recorded and shared online as an ongoing promotion of Hamilton and the event itself.
