In September of 2014, Oplerno will submit a letter of intent to the Agency of Education in the State of Vermont to become a degree-granting institution. This will allow Oplerno to enroll students in degree programs for a period of up to 18 months. During that time, Oplerno will be working with the Agency of Education on its full application for degree-granting authority. We are confident that our operations, finances, and governance systems will result in a successful application approval in 2016. Oplerno has already been authorized to offer undergraduate and graduate courses for credit by the Vermont State Board of Education. This next step is part of our long commitment to becoming a regionally, nationally, and internationally accredited institute of higher learning. Faculty of Oplerno have already expressed an interest in creating certificate and degree programs in the humanities, social sciences, engineering, and business. The time has come for us all to get together! On August 4th through the 7th, we will host a series of meetings, working sessions, presentations, and discussion groups. You can participate in person at our offices in Burlington, Vermont or join us online. Woodblock 2014 is designed to be an intensive time to work and collaborate. If you travel to Burlington, we will provide you working space in our building, wireless access, a fun and collaborative atmosphere, and help in finding a place to stay. You don't need to come to Burlington to participate--every event will be available online and interactive. There is no cost to participate.
