Oakland's 1st Startup Weekend and the 1st global hackathon for Black Male Achievement, Startup Weekend Oakland - Black Male Achievement (BMA) is a weekend long event (February 7th - 9th, 2014) that gathers innovators, coders, and designers from across the globe to collaboratively build/design an app alongside young Black males in Oakland.
Startup Weekend Oakland’s family of contributors, sponsors, and community partners include: Open Society Foundations' Campaign for Black Male Achievement (CBMA), PolicyLink, The Kapor Center for Social Impact, Impact Hub Oakland, SOCAP, ThoughtWorks, Black Girls Code, Pitch Mixer Entrepreneur Forum, Cooperative Education Ventures, Black Founders, and many others.
